A new entrant to sheep farming has been announced as the latest lucky winner of a set of Tornado quality fencing wire and fittings as part of the National Sheep Association (NSA) membership 2018 prize giveaway.

Having established her first flock of Portland sheep earlier this year, Claire Day of Tonbridge, Kent, signed up to join the NSA after being given old copies of Sheep Farmer magazine and recognising the beneficial advice the bi-monthly magazine could provide her.

All new members of NSA are automatically entered into one of the four Tornado Wire prize draws taking place this year, as well as any existing NSA members who recommend a friend, neighbour or family member to sign up also.

Commenting on her win Claire says: “New fencing materials will be hugely beneficial to my business, allowing my sheep to graze safely and happily in a new field. Also, being a young farmer just starting out it will help reduce costs for fencing materials, which I am very grateful for.”

Claire’s interest in sheep farming came after she helped on a friend’s sheep farm and, as a result, she set about establishing her own small flock on her family’s predominantly apple and arable farm. She now hopes to study agriculture at university in the future.

Her prize package, kindly provided by Tornado Wire, long standing supporters of NSA, consists of stock fencing wire and fixings worth more than £450. Through signing up to join NSA Claire’s membership will support the organisations work to provide a voice for the UK sheep sector as, well as providing her access to a wide range of benefits.

Two further prize draws will be made through 2018. Entries are eligible from January 2018 through to a closing date of 30th November 2018. Full membership and prize draw details, including terms and conditions, can be found at www.nationalsheep.org.uk/membership.
