Say hello to a llama and enjoy a ride on a tractor at a free family day out hosted by Hartpury this summer.
Open Farm Sunday on 10 June (10am-3pm) offers a fantastic opportunity to meet Hartpury College and University Centre Hartpury’s collection of animals and go behind the scenes to see a working farm in action.
The abundance of attractions will include lambs, calves, goats and llamas, a live sheep-shearing demonstration, cattle showing, a tractor ride and farm machinery displays.
Farm manager Andrew Eastabrook said: “We’re proud to be one of the farms taking part in Open Farm Sunday and are inviting local families and members of the community to come along and visit.
“We have livestock and crop farming on our 360-hectare campus and work with major retailers, including Sainsbury’s and Waitrose, so this is a great opportunity for anyone looking to discover more about the farming world and to see what goes on here.
“Undoubtedly the animals are bound to prove very popular, along with the chance to go for a ride on a tractor, visit the milking parlour and the cow sheds.
“Visitors can have a go at milking our cow simulator ‘Daisy’, which should be interesting, while over-25s can even take part in a tractor driving experience!”
Open Farm Sunday, held in partnership with Sainsbury’s, is an RSPCA-assured event run on farms across the UK.
Managed by LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming), two million people have visited farms since its launch in 2006.
Each farm runs a unique event with different activities, animals and techniques on display.
